Buy the Amazon Signage Stick if you want screens you can manage remotely and staff cannot change. Buy a Walmart onn box if the lowest price matters most and someone can go to the screen when it needs a fix. The Stick costs $99.99 and an onn 4K costs $39.98, so the Stick adds about $60 per screen. Both play images, video and split-screen layouts.
What are the differences?
| Amazon Signage Stick | Walmart onn | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $99.99 | Full HD $29.98, 4K $39.98, 4K Pro $59.98 |
| Made for | Business signage only | Home streaming (Google TV) |
| What it starts after a power cut | Your signage app, in kiosk mode | Google TV, then the signage app if it is set to start on boot |
| Can staff open other apps? | No | Yes: YouTube, Netflix and the rest are one button away |
| Setup | Amazon Signage phone app, about 10 minutes | Google TV setup, install the signage app from Google Play |
| Fleet tools | Amazon app: profiles, locations, remote restart and reset; a Remote Management API for CMSes | No business fleet app |
| Where to buy | Amazon, in seven countries | Walmart stores and walmart.com (US) |
Prices are read from Amazon and walmart.com in September 2026. The onn range changes, and stock varies by model.
The rows that matter most are the three after price. The Signage Stick exists only to run your signage app. An onn is a home streaming box: it boots to a home screen full of streaming apps, and the signage app must be set up to come back to the front on its own.
What does one screen cost in year one?
The software is the same price on both. With Brix billed annually ($72 a year):
- Signage Stick: $99.99 + $72 = $171.99
- onn 4K: $39.98 + $72 = $111.98
After year one both cost the same $72 a year. So the Stick's extra cost is a one-time $60 per screen. One visit to a screen that froze at a site an hour away costs more than that. Rolling out 30 or more screens? Amazon provides the Signage Sticks free for rollouts that size, and we arrange it with Amazon. Talk to us.
Which one should you choose?
Choose the Signage Stick for a chain, an office, a school or any site where nobody is on hand to fix a screen. You can restart it and see its screen from the office, and staff cannot switch it to another app. See what it costs per screen and the Signage Stick review.
Choose an onn for a single shop or a few screens near you, where a $60 saving per screen matters and you can replace a box the same day at Walmart. Give it airflow behind the TV and turn off its screensaver and sleep settings.
Already own onn boxes or Fire TV Sticks? Use them first. Replace them with Signage Sticks when a box fails or when you add screens at other sites.
How do they compare on Brix?
Brix runs on both, with two different apps:
| Signage Stick (and Fire TV) | onn (Android) | |
|---|---|---|
| Install | Pick "Brix Signage" during the Stick's setup | Install "Brix Signage" from Google Play |
| Screenshot, reboot, TV on and off from the CMS | Yes | No |
| Starts when the box powers on | Yes | Yes, after you grant "Display over other apps" once |
| Pairing | Code on the TV, then Screens, Add screen, Pair a hardware device | The same |
Brix has a separate build for Amazon devices that it can manage remotely. The Android build on an onn cannot be restarted or photographed from the CMS. On the onn you also grant "Display over other apps" by hand, so Brix can bring itself back to the front after a restart or if another app opens.
