Prove what played and see who changed what

Turn on proof-of-play recording, report on verified plays for a campaign window, export the evidence, and search the audit log.

Proof of Play reports every play, skip and failure that your screens send back. The audit log reports every change a member makes in the workspace. Use this guide to turn on recording, report on a campaign window, export the evidence, and find out who changed something. Both pages sit in Settings.

What you can do

Turn on proof-of-play recording

  1. Select Settings in the sidebar.
  2. Select Proof of Play in the settings list.
  3. Read the amber Recording is off banner at the top of the report.
  4. Select Start recording in the banner.
  5. Check that the banner disappears.
  6. Check that the switch in the top bar reads Recording.
The Proof of Play report: the Recording switch, the date range, the six totals and the per-content table.
The Proof of Play report: the Recording switch, the date range, the six totals and the per-content table.
️ Brix records nothing until a member turns recording on. A new workspace and a migrated workspace both start with the switch off, so turn recording on before your campaign starts.
️ Only a member who can change billing sees the Recording switch. Every other member sees a read-only Recording or Recording off pill.
️ The switch in the top bar does the same job as Start recording in the banner.
️ Turn recording off and Brix stops logging new plays. The report keeps the history you already have, and you can still export the history.

Read the playback totals for a period

  1. Select Proof of Play in the settings list.
  2. Open the Date range list in the top bar.
  3. Choose Last 24h, Last 7 days or Last 14 days.
  4. Read the six tiles: Plays, Skipped, Failed, Unique content, Screens reporting and Events.
  5. Read the table below for Content, Plays, Skipped, Failed, Screens, Air time and Last play.
️ The six tiles always report the whole window. The search box filters only the table rows under them.
️ The table shows at most 200 rows. Type into Search content… to reach content past the first 200 rows.

Report on a campaign window

  1. Open the Date range list.
  2. Choose Custom range….
  3. Choose a From date in the Campaign window bar.
  4. Choose a To date.
  5. Wait for the tiles and the table to reload.
️ Fill in both dates. With one date only, the report stays on the last 7 days. The bar says Pick both dates.
️ If the To date falls earlier than the From date, Brix swaps the two dates for you.

Narrow the report to certain screens or content

  1. Type a name into Search content… to filter the table rows.
  2. Select the Screens: All screens button.
  3. Select the checkbox for each screen you want.
  4. Select the Content: All content button.
  5. Select the checkbox for each piece of content you want.
  6. Select Clear filters to return to the whole window.

Check one piece of content event by event

  1. Select any row in the per-content table.
  2. Read the pills at the top of the side panel for plays, skips, failures, screens and air time.
  3. Scroll the Per-event log · grouped by day section.
  4. Read each day header for the played, skipped and failed counts.
  5. Read the Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Night strip under the day header.
  6. Read each event row for the time, the screen name, the length and the result.
  7. Press Escape to close the panel.
️ The per-event log holds the 2,000 most recent events for the window, and an amber strip says so. The tiles, the table and the CSV file stay the complete totals.

Export the evidence as a CSV file

  1. Set the date range you need.
  2. Set the screen and content filters you need.
  3. Select Export CSV in the top bar.
  4. Open the file your browser downloads.
  5. Read the column headers in the first row.
️ The file holds one row for each piece of content. The columns are content_id, content_name, content_kind, plays, skipped, failed, screens, air_time_sec, first_play and last_play.
️ The file name holds the date range and today's date.
️ When the window holds no content rows, Brix turns Export CSV off.

Find out who changed something

  1. Select Settings in the sidebar.
  2. Select Audit log in the settings list.
  3. Type a name, a target or a phrase into Search summary, actor, target….
  4. Read the matching rows across When, Actor, Action, Summary, Scope and IP.
  5. Read the action pill on a row for the kind of change the row records.
The Audit log: the search box, the Action and Actor filters, and one row for each change.
The Audit log: the search box, the Action and Actor filters, and one row for each change.
️ Every row carries a colored bar at its left edge. Cyan marks a sign-in, amber marks a change to content, and red marks a control action.
️ The audit log is append-only and keeps 90 days of history. Nobody can change or delete an entry from the CMS.
Audit log appears in the settings list only where the workspace holds the audit log feature. Team plans and enterprise plans hold the feature by default.

Narrow the log to particular actions or people

  1. Select the Action button in the filter bar.
  2. Select the checkbox for each action you want, such as delete-permanent or unpair.
  3. Select the Actor button.
  4. Select the checkbox for each member or system you want.
  5. Read the new counts under the Audit log title: total events, destructive changes and support entries.
  6. Select Clear inside a filter menu to drop that filter.
️ Each filter menu lists only the values in the events Brix loaded. An action nobody performed never appears in the list.

Reach older events

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the table.
  2. Read the Showing N of M events line.
  3. Select Load more for the next 250 rows.
  4. Repeat until the line disappears.
️ The table shows 250 rows at a time. The count under the Audit log title always reports the full filtered total.
️ A change to the search box or to a filter returns the table to the first 250 rows.
️ The page loads the 12,500 most recent events. The browser cannot reach anything older than those events.

Export the history for a compliance request

  1. Set the search text you need.
  2. Set the Action and Actor filters you need.
  3. Select Export CSV in the top bar.
  4. Open the brix-audit file your browser downloads.
️ The file holds every row that matches the current filters, not only the rows on screen.
️ The columns are Timestamp, Actor, Actor email, Actor kind, Action, Target kind, Target, Summary, Scope and IP address.

See what a screen showed at the time of an event

  1. Find a row whose target is a screen.
  2. Look for the small 16:9 tile beside the summary.
  3. Point at the tile.
  4. Read the On screen ±2 min popover for the content kind and the content id.
  5. Read the capture time and the frame hash.
️ The tile loads only when you point at it, and only for a window of two minutes around the event. If no frame falls in that window, the popover reads No frame hash recorded in window.

Where to go next

To decide who can read these two pages, read organization, people and roles. To get a message when a screen stops playing, read alerts and emergencies. To change what a screen plays in the first place, read put content on a screen.
