Show a website or dashboard on a screen

Links holds the websites and dashboards your screens show. Save a page once, tell Brix how to render the page, then play the link on a screen or inside a playlist. Use this guide for a public page, a dashboard behind a sign-in, or a page on your own network.

What you can do

• Save a web page — Add an address, and your screens show the page.
• Clear cookie banners — Let Brix answer the consent banner at every page load.
• Scroll a long page — Loop a tall dashboard from top to bottom at a speed you pick.
• Show a page behind a sign-in — Record your sign-in once, and Brix replays the steps at every render.
• Send a token with every request — Attach a header token, or a token from a single sign-on connection.
• Add a QR code — Put a scannable code in one corner so viewers open the page on a phone.

Every route starts on the Links page, in the Content group in the sidebar.

Browse your saved links

1. Open Links from the Content group in the sidebar.
2. Select All, Websites, Cookies handled or Needs a login to narrow the grid.
3. Read the colored pill on a card to see how that link renders.
4. Select a card to open the link editor.

Add a public web page

1. Select Add link in the top right of the Links page.
2. Type the address into the URL field.
3. Read the Name that Brix fills in from the address.
4. Type your own name instead, if you want one.
5. Leave the Website kind selected under What kind of page is it?.
6. Check the Preview pane on the right.
7. Select Add link.

Change the address a link points at

1. Select a card on the Links page to open the editor.
2. Edit the URL field.
3. Select outside the field to save.
4. Check the Live preview at the top of the editor.

The Shows on row counts the places that play this link. Select See where to list them.

Clear cookie banners and scroll a long page

1. Open the link editor.
2. Expand the Capture section.
3. Tick Auto-dismiss cookie / consent banners to answer the banner at every load.
4. Tick Auto-scroll the page to loop the page from top to bottom.
5. Choose Very slow, Slow, Medium or Fast in the speed list.

Set how often a link refreshes

1. Open the link editor.
2. Expand the Capture section.
3. Choose Never, Every 5 minutes, Every 15 minutes or Every hour under Refresh.

The Refresh setting tells the player how often to load the page again.

Add a QR code to a link

1. Open the link editor.
2. Expand the QR code section.
3. Tick Show a scannable QR code.
4. Choose Top left, Top right, Bottom left or Bottom right.

A viewer who scans the code opens the same address on a phone.

Show a page that needs a sign-in

1. Select Add link on the Links page.
2. Type the address into the URL field.
3. Choose the Recorded login kind.
4. Read the note that tells you to record the sign-in next.
5. Select Add and configure →.
6. Record the sign-in in the dialog that opens.

Record the sign-in

1. Open a link with the Recorded login kind.
2. Expand the Login section.
3. Select Record.
4. Check that the pill beside the dialog title reads Extension detected.
5. Select Start recording to open the incognito window.
6. Sign in as normal in that window while the step list fills up.
7. Select Save sign-in when you reach the page you want on screen.
8. Wait for the result of the check.

Fill in a password the recorder never captured

1. Open the link.
2. Expand the Login section.
3. Find the Sign-in fields block under the record button.
4. Paste the value into each field marked as a secret.
5. Select outside the field.
6. Wait for the field to report Saved.
7. Select Verify now to check the sign-in again.

Fix a sign-in that stopped working

1. Open the link.
2. Read the Sign-in replay failed message and the step it could not resolve.
3. Select Re-record sign-in.
4. Repeat the recording in the incognito window.
5. Save the recording.
6. Wait for the result of the check.

A site that changes its sign-in page is the usual cause.

Send a token with every request

1. Open a link with the Single sign-on kind.
2. Expand the Login section.
3. Leave Paste a token selected.
4. Type the header name in the first box.
5. Paste the token into the second box.
6. Select Save token.
7. Check that the button reads Saved.

Use a single sign-on connection instead of a token

1. Open the link.
2. Expand the Login section.
3. Select Use SSO connection.
4. Choose a connection in the list.

Brix then gets a fresh token from that connection at every render, so no fixed secret sits on the link.

Hide the thumbnail for a private dashboard

1. Open a link that sits behind a sign-in.
2. Expand the Capture section.
3. Tick the checkbox under Thumbnail.

The CMS then shows a plain site card, and Brix writes no screenshot to storage. Your screens still render the page as normal.

Refresh a snapshot by hand

1. Open a link that Brix renders on its own servers.
2. Select Refresh snapshot at the bottom of the editor.
3. Wait while the button reports its progress.
4. Review the Latest snapshot image and its render time.

Ask about a page inside your network

1. Select Add link on the Links page.
2. Type the address into the URL field.
3. Choose the Inside your network kind.
4. Read the note that render agents are not self-serve yet.
5. Select Contact us to set it up.
6. Send the request.

Our team then scopes the work with you, and opens the setup screen when the agent is ready.

Delete a link

1. Open the link editor.
2. Select Delete link at the bottom.
3. Read the figures in the Move to recycle bin? dialog.
4. Select the confirm button.
