A bar television does not need a second subscription or a tablet propped behind the taps to show live scores. Brix has two built-in apps for this: Sports Scores and Sports Standings. Add one to a screen, pick a league, and it shows the current scoreboard or league table — no extra account, no API key, and no cable or satellite subscription required.
This is the feature customers ask for as "show the scores of the local game." Brix calls it the Sports Scores and Sports Standings apps.

What the apps actually show
The Sports Scores app shows a grid of games for one league: team names, current score, and game status (scheduled, live, or final). The Sports Standings app shows that league's table, with wins, losses, and rank.
Both pull from ESPN's public scoreboard and standings data. Brix does not show the broadcast of the game — no video feed, no play-by-play commentary, no camera angles. It shows the score and the table as a graphic, refreshed automatically. If a customer wants to watch the actual game, that still needs a separate TV input with a cable, satellite, or streaming source. The Sports Scores and Standings apps are for the screens that are not tuned to the game: the bar area, the patio, the waiting line, the screen above the register.
Leagues covered
Both apps support the same 13 leagues:
- NFL
- NCAA Football
- NBA
- WNBA
- NCAA Men's Basketball
- MLB
- NHL
- Premier League
- La Liga
- Serie A
- Bundesliga
- MLS
- UEFA Champions League
Pick one league per app instance. To show two leagues — football on one screen, basketball on another — add a second app instance and pick a different league.
How fast it updates
Sports Scores refreshes every 60 seconds. Sports Standings refreshes every 5 minutes, since a league table changes far less often than a live score. Both run entirely in the screen's browser: no setup step, no login screen, no rate limit a customer can hit.
No API key, no account to connect
Most "live data" apps ask for a developer account or an API key before anything shows up. The Sports Scores and Sports Standings apps do not. Pick the league from a dropdown and the screen starts showing data immediately. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing that can expire or need rotating.
Combine it with the rest of the screen
A single screen does not have to be scores-only. Put the Sports Standings app in one zone of a multi-zone layout and a drink-specials slide or a menu board in another, so the league table runs all afternoon next to what is actually for sale. Brix's on-screen apps guide covers the rest of the built-in apps — weather, clock, news — if a bar wants more than sports on rotation. For a broader look at digital signage in food and drink service, see the restaurant digital signage guide.
If the screen runs on an Amazon Signage Stick, these apps load the same way as any other Brix app — add it from the CMS and it starts showing data.
FAQ
Do I need a cable or satellite subscription? No. The Sports Scores and Sports Standings apps show data, not video. A TV with no cable box can still display live scores and standings. Showing the actual game broadcast is a separate thing and needs its own video source.
Can I show the real game, not just the score? Not through these apps. They show a scoreboard and a league table as a graphic. To show the broadcast itself, connect that screen to a cable box, satellite receiver, or streaming device on a separate input.
Does this need a login or API key? No. Pick the league and it runs.
How often do the numbers update? Scores every 60 seconds. Standings every 5 minutes.
What if my league is not on the list? The current list covers 13 leagues across US pro sports, top NCAA football and basketball, and the main European soccer leagues. A league outside that list is not available in these apps today.
