Layouts
Divide your screen into multiple zones to show different content simultaneously. January 12, 2026
A layout splits one screen into zones. One screen can then show a video, a sidebar and a ticker at the same time. Use this guide to build a layout, to fill each zone with content, and to set the pixel size the player renders. Layouts appears in the sidebar only when Multi-zone layouts is on for your Space. To put a finished layout on a screen, read put content on a screen.
What you can do
- Start from a preset — Pick a landscape or portrait starting layout that already holds the zones you need.
- Add and arrange zones — Add a section, a ticker or an overlay, and drag each one into place.
- Give each zone its own content — Bind a playlist, schedule, media file, app, link or design to a zone.
- Set exact pixels — Type the position, the size and the layer of a zone as numbers.
- Lock a zone — Stop anyone in the layout from moving, resizing or replacing one zone.
- Share a zone — Hand one zone to another team without giving them the rest of the layout.
- Change the canvas resolution — Choose a portrait, ultrawide or custom pixel size for the whole layout.
Create a layout from a preset
- Go to Layouts in the sidebar, under Content.
- Select New at the top of the Layouts rail.
- In Choose a starting layout, select 16:9 for landscape or 9:16 for portrait.
- Select a preset card, such as 1 Main + ticker or 3 zones.
- Select the layout name in the header.
- Type the name you want.
- Press Enter.

Add and arrange zones
- Select the layout in the Layouts rail.
- Select Add section to drop a new zone into the first free space, starting at the top left.
- Select Add ticker for a full-width strip across the bottom of the canvas.
- Select Add overlay for a zone that sits on top of every other zone.
- Drag a zone to move it.
- Drag the round handle at the bottom-right corner of a zone to resize it.
- With a zone selected, select Auto-fill to grow the zone into the empty space around it.

Give a zone its content
- Select the zone on the canvas.
- Select the Content button in the Zone panel on the right.
- Choose a tab: Playlists, Schedules, Media, Apps, Links or Canvas.
- Type in the Search… box to narrow a long list.
- Select the item you want the zone to play.
The sheet closes, and the zone shows the item name on the canvas.

Position a zone exactly
- Select the zone on the canvas.
- Type a pixel value into the X, Y, W or H field in the Zone panel.
- Press Enter.
- Read the value that comes back into the field.
Control which zone paints on top
- Select the zone that should sit above its neighbour.
- Type a higher number into the Z field under Layer.
- Press Enter.
A higher number paints on top. To raise the zone one layer at a time, select the up arrow beside the Z field.
Lock a zone so nobody moves it
- Select the zone on the canvas.
- Turn on the Lock zone switch in the Zone panel.
The zone shows a padlock. Brix disables the Content button and the four position fields for everyone, not only for other members.
Hand one zone to another team
- Select the zone on the canvas.
- Read the Lock vs share note to confirm sharing is what you want.
- Select Share this zone… under Sharing.
- Finish the grant on the Settings > Sharing page that opens.
Brix fills in this layout and this zone for you on the sharing page.
Clear the warning that stops a layout reaching a screen
A zone with no content paints a dead region, so Brix refuses to put the layout on a screen.
- Read the amber line in the header, which names the empty zones.
- Select a zone that carries the No content yet badge on the canvas.
- Bind content to the zone with the Content button in the Zone panel.
- Repeat for every zone the warning names.
- Check that the amber line disappears.
Change the canvas resolution
- Find Canvas resolution at the top of the right rail.
- Open the preset select.
- Choose a preset, such as Portrait · 9:16 — 1080×1920.
To set a size of your own, use the two fields under the select.
- Type the width into the W field.
- Type the height into the H field.
- Press Enter.
Let videos take the whole screen
- Find the Full-screen video card in the right rail.
- Turn the switch on.
When the main zone plays a video, the player fills the screen with the video and hides the other zones. The other zones return when the video ends.
Remove a zone
- Select the zone on the canvas.
- Select Remove zone in the row of buttons under the canvas.
- Check that the Zone panel reads Select a zone to edit it, or add a new one.
What you cannot change without permission
