Most digital signage vendors put single sign-on (SSO) on a higher plan, and several also set a minimum screen count. Of the 14 platforms below, only Brix and Play Digital Signage include SSO on their entry plan. For the rest, the SSO plan costs about 1.4 to over 4 times the entry price per screen, and three set a minimum above 20 screens (25, 35 and 100).
The software industry calls this the "SSO tax": you buy the bigger plan to get one sign-in feature.
Which plan unlocks SSO at each vendor
Prices are per screen per month, annual billing first, then monthly. "20 screens" is the lowest monthly cost of SSO for a 20-screen fleet on annual billing, including any screen minimum.

Vendor by vendor
Brix
- Plan: one plan, $6 per screen per month billed annually or $8 billed monthly. SSO, SCIM and roles are on it.
- Standard: OpenID Connect (OIDC). No SAML.
- Identity providers: Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace, Okta, Auth0 or any OIDC provider.
- What you get: DNS-verified email domains, a "require single sign-on" policy, an account at first sign-in with a role you pick, rules that turn a directory claim into a role at a location, and SCIM to add, move and switch off people.
- Where: Settings → Security → Single sign-on.
- Watch out for: if your security policy allows only SAML apps, Brix does not fit.
Play Digital Signage
- Plan: every plan, from Essential at $8 per screen monthly ($7.20 annual at 4 screens; less with more screens).
- SSO: Okta and Microsoft Entra ID are ticked for Essential, Pro and Ultimate on the pricing page.
- Standard: the Okta guide installs an OIDC app. Only the team owner can set it up.
Kitcast
- Plan: Pro, $10 per screen annual or $14 monthly. Starter ($7 / $9) has no SSO.
- Includes: SSO/SAML, SCIM provisioning, MDM integration, REST API access and audit logs (pricing page).

- Standard: SAML 2.0, with guides for Okta, Entra ID and OneLogin. SAML groups map to OptiSigns teams and roles at each sign-in (guide).
- Provisioning: a person's account is created at first SAML sign-in, and their groups re-sync at each sign-in.
Rise Vision
- Plan: Enterprise. $180 per display per year for businesses, $164 for K-12 and non-profits. Basic and Advanced have no SSO.
- Unlimited option: K-12 schools can pay $1,399 per school per year for unlimited displays, SSO included (pricing).

- Watch out for: one identity provider per account, SSO does not block password sign-in, and only a Tenant Admin can set it up (SSO overview).
ScreenCloud
- Plan: the pricing page lists "Single sign-on" only under Enterprise. Its SSO guide says "Pro and Enterprise plans with a minimum of 35 licenses billed annually".
- Cheapest route: 35 Pro licences at $30 annual = $1,050 a month, $12,600 a year.
- SCIM: "only available on the Enterprise tier plan" (SCIM guide).
- Standard: SAML 2.0 (Okta, OneLogin, Entra ID).
- Watch out for: forcing SSO, adding an identity-provider domain and changing the certificate are done by ScreenCloud support, not in the app.

- Standard: SAML 2.0, with SCIM 2.0 for users and groups (SCIM docs).
Mvix
- Plan: SSO is part of the Select Suite, an add-on bundle "priced on a per account basis" through a Solutions Consultant. The bundle also holds 2FA, IP access controls, CAP alerts and Power BI (Select Suite sheet).
- Standard: SAML.
Google or Microsoft sign-in is not SSO
Many vendors put a "Sign in with Microsoft" or "Sign in with Google" button on every plan. Screenly, for example, offers Google, GitHub and Microsoft sign-in on all plans and keeps SAML for Enterprise.
That button lets a person use a work account. It does not let IT:
- force everyone to sign in through the company directory;
- turn off access for a leaver from one place;
- give people roles and locations from directory groups.
Those need a real SSO connection (SAML or OIDC), and that is the feature on the higher plan.
How to check a vendor's SSO tier before you buy
- Open the vendor's pricing page and expand the full comparison table. Card summaries often leave SSO out.
- Search the page for "SSO", "SAML" and "single sign".
- Note the first plan with a tick, and any screen minimum on that plan.
- Open the vendor's SSO help article. It often adds a licence minimum or billing rule the pricing page does not show (ScreenCloud's 35 licences).
- Check the standard: SAML, OIDC or both. Your identity provider must support it.
- Check SCIM if you want people added and removed automatically. It is often a separate tier.
- Put "SSO included: which plan, at what screen count" in your vendor questions or RFP, so the answer is in writing.
FAQ
What is the SSO tax?
The practice of putting single sign-on only on a higher plan, so a buyer pays for the whole plan to get one security feature. The name comes from sso.tax, a list of SaaS vendors that do it.
Which digital signage software includes SSO on every plan?
Of the 14 platforms above, Brix (OIDC, on its one plan) and Play Digital Signage (Okta and Entra ID, from Essential).
Is SSO the same as SAML?
No. SSO is the idea: one company sign-in for many apps. SAML 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC) are two standards that deliver it. Entra ID, Okta and Google Workspace support both. Most signage vendors use SAML; Brix uses OIDC only.
Does Brix charge extra for SSO?
No. SSO and SCIM are on the one plan: $6 per screen per month billed annually, or $8 billed monthly.
For how SSO, SCIM and location roles work, see the digital signage single sign-on guide. To connect your identity provider on a plan with no upgrade tier, start a 7-day free trial. No card needed.
