Yodeck costs less per screen ($8 against $20 billed annually), has a free one-screen plan, and gives you a Raspberry Pi 4 player free with an annual plan. ScreenCloud costs more and adds a GraphQL API for custom screen apps. Its PIXI player comes with an annual plan only on the "Free Device" deal, which raises Core from $20 to $24 per screen per month. Price, the player hardware, offline playback and the contract terms are where the two differ most.

Yodeck vs ScreenCloud at a glance

Yodeck

  • Price: $8 per screen per month (Basic), $12 (Premium) or $16 (Enterprise). The rate is the same on annual or monthly billing. One screen is free, forever.
  • Best for: A team that wants a free single-screen start, a player included in the price, and a wide choice of hardware it may already own.
  • Players: The Yodeck Player (Raspberry Pi 4), Amazon Signage Stick, Amazon Fire TV Stick, your own Raspberry Pi 4 or 5, BrightSign, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS Signage, Windows, a web player and a native Android app.
  • Strengths: A real free plan with no time limit. Cached content, including YouTube videos, keeps playing for at least 30 days with no internet connection. An Interactive Kiosk App is included from the Basic plan. ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 certified (Yodeck security page).
  • Watch out for: SAML single sign-on needs Enterprise ($16). Prepaid annual fees are not refunded after the first 30 days. See Yodeck's full plan breakdown for what each tier adds.

ScreenCloud

  • Price: $20 per screen per month billed annually, or $24 billed monthly (Core); $30 annually or $36 monthly (Pro); Enterprise is quote-only and annual only.
  • Best for: A team that wants a GraphQL API to build its own screen apps, a yearly SOC 2 Type 2 audit for its security review, and can pay a higher per-screen price.
  • Players: ScreenCloud's own PIXI ($95) and Station P1 Pro with ScreenCloud OS ($199), Amazon Signage Stick and most Fire TV Stick models (not the Fire TV Stick 4K, 2nd generation), Android and Google TV boxes, Samsung Tizen and LG webOS commercial displays (not consumer TVs), ChromeOS (needs a paid Chrome management license per device), BrightSign Series 3 to 5, Windows and macOS.
  • Strengths: Over 80 apps and integrations plus a GraphQL API. ScreenCloud Touch for kiosks. An independent SOC 2 Type 2 audit every year, and Cyber Essentials certification (ScreenCloud security page). Its own players arrive with the software preinstalled and remote reboot built in.
  • Watch out for: No free plan, only a 14-day trial. The annual "Free Device" deal raises Core to $24 per screen. Streaming apps (YouTube, Vimeo, live news) are skipped while offline. Single sign-on needs Enterprise.

What 10 screens cost on each

Software, billed annually:

Brixone plan$6$720$2,160
YodeckBasic$8$960$2,880
ScreenCloudCore$20$2,400$7,200

On monthly billing: Brix $8, Yodeck $8, ScreenCloud Core $24 per screen per month.

How each handles players (specs below):

  • Yodeck: the 1 GB Yodeck Player is free with annual Basic; the 4 GB Player Plus is free with annual Premium and Enterprise (Yodeck Player page). On monthly billing you buy it: $85 or $155.
  • ScreenCloud: an annual plan offers two deals, for new customers only. "Discount" is the $20 Core rate with no device. "Free Device" includes a PIXI per screen but bills $24 on Core and $36 on Pro (ScreenCloud pricing). Neither deal applies to renewals or to screens added later.
  • Brix: runs on players you buy once, such as the Amazon Signage Stick. Amazon provides Sticks free for rollouts of 30 or more screens.

The player hardware, spec by spec

Both vendors sell a player that arrives preconfigured. The specs below come from each vendor's product page and the FCC filings.

Yodeck Player and Yodeck Player Plus

  • Price: $85 (1 GB) or $155 (4 GB), or free with an annual plan. After one full year of payments, the player is yours and does not go back if you cancel (Yodeck terms).
  • Board: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, Broadcom BCM2711, quad-core Cortex-A72 at 1.8 GHz (Raspberry Pi 4 product brief).
  • RAM: 1 GB (Yodeck Player, 1080p maximum) or 4 GB (Player Plus, 4K, multi-zone layouts and web dashboards).
  • Storage: 32 GB Class 10 microSD card, about 28 GB free for media (Yodeck docs).
  • Video: 2 micro-HDMI ports, up to 4Kp60; Yodeck uses only the left one. Hardware decode is H.265 up to 4Kp60 and H.264 up to 1080p60, so export 4K video as H.265.
  • Network: Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), Bluetooth 5.0.
  • Ports: 2 USB 3.0, 2 USB 2.0.
  • Power: official USB-C supply, 5 V 3 A, 1.5 m cable. PoE works with a separate PoE HAT; the case lid is magnetic so the HAT fits.
  • In the box: the Pi 4 in a metal case (passive cooling), the power supply, a 1 m micro-HDMI to HDMI cable and the preloaded microSD card.
  • Warranty: 1 year. Yodeck Assurance, $1 per player per month, adds express replacements for as long as you subscribe.
  • FCC ID: 2ABCB-RPI4B (Raspberry Pi Trading Ltd, the board inside). Raspberry Pi keeps the Pi 4 in production until at least January 2034.

ScreenCloud PIXI

  • Price: $95. The annual "Free Device" deal includes one, but raises Core from $20 to $24 per screen per month.
  • OS: ScreenCloud's own OS built on Android 14, with the ScreenCloud player preloaded (PIXI launch post).
  • Chip: Amlogic S905Y5, quad-core Cortex-A55, Mali-G31 MP2 GPU (ScreenCloud store).
  • RAM and storage: 4 GB LPDDR4, 64 GB eMMC.
  • Video: HDMI, 4K at 60 Hz output with 1080p rendering, so content is drawn at 1080p and upscaled.
  • Network: 100 Mbps Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac, 2x2 MIMO), plus Bluetooth and Bluetooth LE (FCC ID 2BNWE-PIXI). No manual DNS setting; set DNS on the router. ScreenCloud lists enterprise network support for the Station P1 Pro, not PIXI.
  • Ports (FCC photos): HDMI, Ethernet, 2 USB-A, microSD, optical S/PDIF, 3.5 mm AV and the DC power jack.
  • Power: 5 V 2 A adapter (100 to 240 V input).

  • In the box: the PIXI, an HDMI cable, a remote control and the power adapter.
  • Warranty: 1 year.
  • Made by: Shenzhen Oranth Technology, for ScreenCloud Inc (FCC test report BCTC2502975137-3E).

ScreenCloud Station P1 Pro (ScreenCloud OS)

  • Price: $199 per device; more than 25 devices goes through sales (ScreenCloud OS page).
  • Chip: Rockchip RK3399, 6 cores (2 Cortex-A72 + 4 Cortex-A53) up to 1.8 GHz, Mali-T860 MP4 GPU.

  • Video: 1 HDMI 2.0, or DisplayPort over USB-C; 4K at 30 Hz with 4K rendering.

  • Ports: 1 USB 2.0, 1 USB 3.0, 1 USB-C, 3.5 mm audio, power button.
  • Power: 12 V 2 A DC barrel (9 to 12 V input); 0.12 W idle, 3.6 W normal, 9.6 W maximum. No PoE: ScreenCloud says to use a PoE splitter with a 12 V output.
  • Size: 12.4 x 7.9 x 3.1 cm (4.88 x 3.11 x 1.22 in), 365 g, fanless aluminium case, rated -20 to 60 °C.
  • Warranty: 1 year, with a free replacement for a faulty unit. A 3-year warranty costs 25% of the device price. ScreenCloud supports the OS for 5 years after a model is discontinued.
  • Made by: Firefly. It replaces the original Station P1 (FCC ID 2AXTJ-STATION-P1), which had 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only (ScreenCloud help).
  • Only here: the screen power schedule in ScreenCloud runs only on ScreenCloud OS hardware.

Which player to pick: the 1 GB Yodeck Player and PIXI suit full-screen playlists. For 4K video, web dashboards or multi-zone layouts, pick the Yodeck Player Plus (4K at 60 Hz) or the Station P1 Pro (4K at 30 Hz), since PIXI renders at 1080p.

Does either one work with the Amazon Signage Stick (often called the "Fire Stick")?

Yes, both do. Yodeck lists the Amazon Signage Stick as a supported player. ScreenCloud has its own Signage Stick setup guide and remote tools for it: restart, reboot, screenshot and clear cache, which work only while the screen is online.

On a Signage Stick, you add ScreenCloud in Amazon's Signage console, then pair it with a code. The Yodeck Player skips that: plug it into power, the network and the screen, and it shows up in the Yodeck portal with no keyboard.

Which one keeps playing if the internet goes down?

Both play cached content offline, with different limits:

  • Yodeck: players download every video and image, YouTube videos included, and keep playing for at least 30 days (Yodeck docs). A warning shows 3 days before playback stops, between 30 and 40 days offline. Web pages and live streams do not play offline.
  • ScreenCloud: a file is cached after it plays once. Streaming apps (YouTube, Vimeo, live news) are skipped while offline. The cache is capped per platform: half the free storage on Android and Fire TV, up to 10 GB on ChromeOS, 5 GB on Windows and macOS, 500 MB on iOS (ScreenCloud help). When the cache fills, the oldest files go first.

For a store that loses internet overnight, both keep the screen running. For YouTube content or an outage of weeks, Yodeck is the safer choice.

Does either one support touch screens?

Yes. Yodeck lists an Interactive Kiosk App from its Basic plan ($8 per screen). ScreenCloud Touch is a Pro-plan feature: $30 per screen billed annually, or $36 monthly.

Which one has single sign-on?

Neither includes it on its entry plan. Yodeck's SAML SSO (Active Directory FS, Okta, OneLogin) needs Enterprise, at $16 per screen per month. ScreenCloud's SSO also needs Enterprise, which is sold only through sales with no published price.

What happens if you cancel?

Yodeck (terms of service):

  • Cancel in the portal by reducing your paid screens to 1. The account drops to the Free plan and renewals stop.
  • An annual plan is refundable only within its first 30 days, and only if you send back every Yodeck-supplied player in its original packaging, at your cost, within 30 days.
  • After that, prepaid fees for the rest of the term are not refunded.
  • A free player is yours after one full year of payments.

ScreenCloud:

  • A monthly plan needs cancellation notice before the next billing term starts. An annual plan needs 30 days' notice.
  • A request made after a new term has started takes effect at the end of that term, so you pay for the screens until then.

Is there a free plan or a trial?

Yodeck has a free plan: one screen, forever. New Yodeck accounts also get a 30-day trial on up to 5 screens with every feature, but no player is shipped during it. ScreenCloud has no free plan, only a 14-day trial.

Where Brix fits

Brix is one plan at every screen count: $6 per screen per month billed annually, or $8 billed monthly, with every feature on it, including SSO (OpenID Connect; no SAML). That is less than Yodeck Basic on annual billing ($6 against $8) and the same on monthly. It is less than a third of ScreenCloud Core ($20 annual).

On 10 screens over three years, Brix software costs $2,160, against $2,880 for Yodeck Basic and $7,200 for ScreenCloud Core.

Brix runs on the Amazon Signage Stick, Fire TV, Android boxes such as the Walmart Onn, TVs with Google TV or Android TV built in, and a Windows player. It does not run on BrightSign, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS or Raspberry Pi. If your fleet already runs on one of those, Yodeck or ScreenCloud fits that hardware better.
