An Amazon Signage Stick that keeps turning off is almost always one of three things: the stick is short of power and restarts, the TV's own energy-saving timer switches the TV off, or your signage software turns the TV off on a schedule. If the Amazon logo reappears at random, it is power. If the TV goes dark after a few hours without anyone touching it, it is the TV's timer. If it goes dark at the same time every day, it is a schedule.
Which one is it?
| What you see | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The Amazon logo appears at random, then content returns | The stick lost power and restarted | Power section below |
| The TV turns off about 4 hours after someone last used its remote | The TV's auto power off or eco timer | TV settings section below |
| The TV goes dark at the same time every day | A schedule in your CMS switching the TV off over HDMI-CEC | Schedule section below |
| The TV shows "No signal", then turns itself off | The stick restarted or lost power, and the TV switched off with no input | Power section, then the TV's "no signal" timer |
| The screen goes dark in the early morning | The stick installing an update, which Amazon schedules for 2 am to 5 am local time | Nothing, if it recovers by opening time |
Fix a power fault
- Use the adapter from the box. Plug it into a wall outlet or a powered strip. Amazon warns that a TV's USB port has limited power output, and not every TV supplies USB power at all. A phone charger or a TV port can let the stick start and then fail under load.
- Power an Ethernet adapter the same way. An adapter drawing from the TV's USB port causes random drops and restarts.
- Check what else shares the outlet. A strip on a timer, or a circuit that switches off with the lights, cuts the stick every night.
- Give it air. A stick pressed against a hot TV back, or inside a closed enclosure, runs hot. Leave space around it.
- Reset as the last step. If the stick still restarts on a known-good adapter and outlet, factory reset it and set it up again. If that fails, return it through Amazon.
Fix the TV's own timers
Many TVs have energy-saving features that switch them off with no warning:
- Auto power off after no remote press, often after 4 hours. Names include Auto Power Off, 4 Hours Off and Eco.
- Off when there is no signal, after a few minutes with no input.
- Sleep timer and off timer, set by someone and forgotten.
Turn these off in the TV's settings, usually under General, Eco Solution, Energy Saving or Power.
Fix a schedule that turns the TV off
Signage software can put the TV in standby over HDMI-CEC outside opening hours. If the TV goes dark at the same time every day, check the screen's schedule or opening hours in your CMS before you touch the hardware. If the TV does not come back in the morning, see HDMI-CEC not working.
Where Brix fits
Every new screen in Brix starts on Standard hours, 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, and the Signage Stick turns the TV off over HDMI-CEC outside them. A TV that goes dark at 11 pm is that default. To run all day, open the screen's On and off times and set On / off schedule to Always on — never turns off. If the screen follows a power policy, set Schedule source to Custom hours first. See screen settings and display power.
Brix also shows which cause you have, from the office:
- The screen's outage history labels each gap: Power cut, Switched off, Restarted or Off (scheduled).
- If the stick stays online while the TV is dark, the row turns amber and reads TV off. That points at the TV's timer or its power button, not the stick.
Brix cannot change a TV's own eco timer. Someone at the screen turns it off once in the TV's menu.

FAQ
Can weak Wi-Fi make the stick turn off?
No. Weak Wi-Fi makes the stick drop offline and reconnect, and most signage apps keep playing saved content meanwhile. It does not power the stick or the TV off. See keeps disconnecting.
Can I use a different power adapter?
Use the one from the box. If it is lost, replace it with an adapter of the same rating, not a phone charger.
