Play Digital Signage charges $7.20 a month for Essential, $10.80 for Pro and $14.40 for Ultimate, billed annually (or $8, $12 and $16 billed monthly). Proof of play and the audit log sit behind the Ultimate tier, and Play has no publish-approval step at any price. Pick Yodeck or OptiSigns for a free screen, NoviSign for a page-layout editor like Play's with more automation, Juuno for the lowest price per screen here, Screenly for a security review, or Brix for proof of play and an audit log on one plan — but only on supported hardware, since Brix has no Samsung Tizen or LG webOS app. For a full head-to-head, see Brix vs Play Digital Signage.
How much does Play Digital Signage cost?
Per screen per month, from Play's pricing page:
| Plan | Annual | Monthly | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | $7.20 | $8 | Templates, scheduling, the editor, the media library |
| Pro | $10.80 | $12 | Slide conditions, TV on/off, tags, shuffle, sync, alerts, the API, locked objects, private files |
| Ultimate | $14.40 | $16 | Analytics (proof of play), audit log, a dashboard, ad cycle, AudienceAware |
- Annual billing cuts 10% off every tier. The price per screen also falls as you add screens (the annual prices above are for 4 screens).
- The first screen is free for 30 days, with every Pro feature. Post a review in that time on an approved site (Capterra, G2, Trustpilot, Google, Software Advice or GetApp) and the screen stays free. Skip the review and Play removes it.
- Play's own FAQ says single sign-on and two-factor authentication are open to all users, on every plan.
Why look for a Play Digital Signage alternative?
- Proof of play and the audit log need Ultimate. A buyer who only wants to prove content played, or to see who changed what, pays for the Dashboard, Ad Cycle and AudienceAware too.
- Play has no step where someone signs content off before it goes on a screen. Play's plan comparison lists user roles and playlist sharing, but no approval step on any tier.
- The free screen has a string attached. It is free for 30 days on trust, then it depends on a public review landing on time.

Switching from Play Digital Signage
- Hardware: Play runs on Android, Windows, macOS, Chromecast, the Amazon Signage Stick, LG webOS, Samsung Tizen, Google TV, Raspberry Pi and BrightSign. A Signage Stick, Fire TV, Android box or Windows PC keeps working with Brix. A Samsung Tizen or LG webOS screen needs a supported player plugged into its HDMI port instead.
- Moving content: Brix moves your content, playlists and screens for you, free, usually in a day.
- Scale: rolling out 30 or more screens? Amazon provides Signage Sticks free for that size of order. Talk to us and we arrange it with Amazon.
FAQ
Does Play Digital Signage have a free plan?
Yes. The first screen is free for 30 days with every Pro feature. Post a review on an approved site in that time and it stays free; skip the review and Play removes it. Yodeck (1 screen, forever) and OptiSigns (3 screens, forever) have no review condition.
Which Play Digital Signage alternative supports Samsung and LG screens?
Yodeck, OptiSigns and NoviSign all ship a Samsung Tizen and an LG webOS app, like Play. Brix and Juuno do not; on a Tizen or webOS TV, plug in a supported player instead.
Does any alternative include proof of play on its cheapest paid plan?
Only Brix, where it is on the one plan and off by default. Play, Yodeck, OptiSigns, NoviSign and Juuno put it on a higher tier, and Screenly has no proof-of-play report.
Start a free 7-day Brix trial. No card needed. For more options, see best digital signage software.
